Cameron S. Deptula
Special Advisor
Cameron Deptula is Special Advisor to Hawaii Governor Josh Green, M.D., focusing on innovative economic development and encouraging foreign direct investment across sectors like tourism, health, energy, transit-oriented development, and agriculture/biosecurity. He leads the Governor’s Committee on Transit-Oriented Development, collaborating with developers, government, labor, and international partners to drive investments along Honolulu’s Skyline transit system.
Cameron’s past efforts include advocating for the expansion of the US Global Entry program for Japanese travelers, spearheading a geothermal exploration initiative with the Hawaii State Energy Office, and establishing Hawaii’s $30M loan forgiveness program for licensed medical professionals (HELP). Notably, he played a key role in creating temporary housing for individuals affected by the 2023 Maui Wildfires, partnering with private and state entities to deliver 50 homes in just eight months, thanks to the generosity of Tadashi Yanai, CEO of Fast Retailing/Uniqlo.
Previously, Cameron served as Transition Lead for Governor Green’s administration, overseeing cabinet appointments, and as Field Director for Green’s gubernatorial campaign, managing voter engagement and affinity group outreach. His prior roles include serving as a policy analyst at the Hawaii Institute for Public Affairs (HIPA).
A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and the Goldman School of Public Policy, Cameron’s research has specialized in U.S. economic policy and Japanese foreign direct investment in Hawaii. He is currently an MBA candidate at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
